February Fun with Hands on Healdsburg
by Christa Avampato
The second month of Hands on Healdsburg will continue in February. Like January’s offerings, it is an eclectic mix of events that emphasize hands-on workshops and immersive experiences. Hands on Healdsburg has a lot to offer in February, highlighting the unique, friendly and welcoming vibe that makes Healdsburg the gem of the Sonoma wine country.
One event you won’t want to miss is The 7th Annual Lake Sonoma Steelhead Festival at Milt Brandt Visitors Center, taking place on the 7th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This popular family-friendly festival runs rain or shine with food trucks, wine, beer, live music, exhibits and, of course, lots of fish! Food and wine
Known for its food and wine, Healdsburg serves up a lineup of regularly scheduled and one-time events at a number of different venues.
Francis Ford Coppola Winery has quite a few offerings including tastings, rare behind-the-scenes tours of its operation, and full dinners complete with perfect wine pairings. Click here for details on all events happening at Francis Ford Coppola Winery.
Relish Culinary Adventures is planning two very special evenings with renowned chefs Billy Reid and Louis Maldonado. Don’t miss your chance to be wined and dined (truly!) by their talents. For details, click here.
Spoonbar, Grape Leaf Inn, Mazzocco Winery, and Trattore Farms are also serving up unique tasting and dining experiences this month that are perfect opportunities to entertain your mind and your taste buds all while savoring the culinary gems of Healdsburg.
The great outdoors
Healdsburg’s idyllic landscape offers many opportunities to experience nature. Relish Culinary Adventures is again taking guests into the wild world of mushroom foraging paired with a tasty lunch to enjoy the finds of guests’ foraging labors. Learn from the experts at Healdsburg SHED, as they guide you through winter pruning and garden planning. Additional garden events including an orchid-arranging class at Dragonfly Floral and a rainwater-harvesting workshop at BlueBarrel will help you start your gardening season in style. If you’re a bird watcher, the privately owned Pezzi King Estate will open its gates for a rare adventure.
In addition to food, wine and the great outdoors, the Healdsburg Center for the Arts will host a very special workshop on embellished books. Instructor Lynn Roth will teach you to create a work of art inside the covers of a recycled book. Bring your own small personal items to make a one-of-a-kind treasure. No previous art experience necessary.
